i have been pretty bad about updates lately. will work on that going forward. we have pretty much been walking once a day for the past few weeks, since i started work, and on tuesdays walking twice. thus far our weekend summary:
saturday we took the dogs to the marin french cheese factory. inspected the grounds, watched the geese and black birds and then sat at a picnic table and had ourselves some french cheese and crackers... well the dogs got crackers, dog cookies, and water.
i had bohdan tied to the leg of the table with his gentle leader on, and left him with shari to go get the cheese. shari decided that he was too good at removing the gentle leader and put his leash on his flat collar, and as soon as I got back another dog was walking by, bohdan slipped his collar and was going to charge down to say hello to the other dog... i grabbed him in a hug, and told him to stay which he did.
got his gentle leader and leash back on him, then tightened down his collar. he probably would only have gone to say hi to the other dog and its owner but I can't be certain. the owner of the other dog mentioned that she didn't like leashes with dogs as it makes them more aggressive.
oh and friday, shari and the dogs picked me up at the bart station and when we got home we ran around the neighborhood. hard on both bohdan and I. we took a long route around the 'hood, and we went at a very quick pace. at some points bohdan was trotting.
his back and right hip are bugging him this weekend, I am hopeing he will work through whatever is going on.. not sure I can get the time off of work to take him to the chiropractor.
this morning i decided that the dogs had had too much going on yesterday and that they needed a day of rest. so no walks this am. when i got home from work, i was told by both dogs that there was no chance they would get out of a walk.
so i fed them, ate my dinner and then ... we went for a blaze through the neighborhood.
bohdan is laying on the floor now, panting and crying... i hope he isn't hurt. he is chewing on his feet, it looks like he has made his front left foot raw.
ugh.. gotta go to bed, not sure what is going to happen tomorrow, it is trash day and not sure we can do a walk.
tuesdays are now trillian's day at doggie day care, and i knew bohdan would have a fit this morning if he didn't get his walk. so i got up and immediately got him ready for his walk. we went around the neighborhood, but took a different route from yesterday.
then i fed both dogs and took trillian into the city when i left for work. all seemed well. bohdan was not home alone all day as heather stopped in and said hi and rolled around on the floor with him... or at least this is what was reported to me.
when i got home from working and picking up trillian, i immediately took bohdan on a walk around the neighborhood, yet a different route from this morning. he was so happy to get out and get his turn again.
although i was worried as he was limping, and has been having problems with his feet again... oh and his nose and eyes are a little runny, still clear but a concern. this has been going on since he had his rabies shots.
I think it is about time to call the homeopathic vet.
today i started my new job. i got up early and showered and then grabbed bohdan and trillian and shari and we did a fast walk around the neighborhood.
it was good that the dogs got their walk this morning, since there is just no way am able to do it tonight.... all i can think about it bed.
today we went on a walk with trillian and shari. it was a somewhat normal length walk, but since trillian was with us bohdan had to run or waddle or walk fast the entire way. he doesn't like to be left behind and it becomes very important that he keep up and/or be in front. so he was hot and tired by the time we returned home. i let him rest a bit, and started in on bathing trillian. both dogs were very dirty. once i had finished her bath i convinced bohdan that it was time for him to get clean. and into the tub he went. he was still pretty warm from the walk, and i tried to hurry cause he didn't really seem like he wanted to be standing.
in the end i have a clean dog who was happy about his walk.
there isn't much that beats having a clean dog.
we did it... bohdan and i walked all the way to the little park and back and he did stop to rest, but whenever i asked him if he was ready to walk he got up immediatly and we continued.
i think this is one of the longest neighborhood walks we have been on.
the little park is about 7 blocks round trip.
i was out of town all weekend, which left shari home with the dogs. from what she has told me she took bohdan on a walk on satruday and he was a good boy. i was too tired when i get home yesterday from the drive back from LA so there were no walks. i thought my just being here would be enough to make the dogs happy.
so today is trillian's first day at k9to5 and bohdan is home alone.
i returned home from class and i took him on a long walk. he was so happy to get out, and now he is is pleasantly tired I did wrap his paw since it is still abraided.
it is nice to be able to spend time with my dog, and not feel rush to take the other one out for their walk. doesn't matter which one.
well with mommie gone Bohdan is of course off his food today. but he pretty much left his paw alone. I opened the door. this was great. all thoughts of food and the paw disappeared as he enjoyed the view and barking occasionally at passers by.
I had just started typing this when he got really agitated. it was Dave come to visit. I got Bohdan into the kitchen with cookies and put the Thing On His Face. this cuased much excitement until he realized he wasn't Going, but Dave was Staying. Bohdan settled in the kitchen all grumpy.
Dave & I talked and Bohdan eventually came in the living room. he wanted to get to Dave I think for pets but I wasn't confident enough to let that happen. Bohdan settled about 2 feet away from Dave. we talked and both Bohdan and Trillian settled and went to sleep.
when Dave had to leave - about 90 minutes later, he had to lean over Bohdan to pick something up. no reaction. wow.
after all this time with Thing On His Face I decided to take him walking. we ran about half a block and he was very happy. by the time we were 3/4 of the way around the long block, his paw was abraded again and bugging him. many stops on the last few lawns to ease the paw. I let him rest lots becuase it looked like it hurt.
now we are home and the paw bugs him again. I put the Cone of Doom on him now to keep him from chewing it.
