Meditation is a form of alternative dispute resolution where the parties can solve their disputes without going to the time and expense of the court system.
Quicker resolution: no pre-trial hearings, no waiting for a court date, no continuances.
Less expensive: no filing fees, no attorney's fees, mediator's fee split between the parties.
Confidential: no written transcripts or recordings, no public record.
Flexible: not bound by court rules and procedures, parties come up with their own solutions.
I am a trained professional mediator. I have fulfilled all of the requirements proposed by the California state Legislature for upcoming mediation certification. I have worked as a mediator for the State of California, Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Workers' Compensation, Information and Assistance Unit, for several years. Duties involve mediating disputes between injured workers and claims administrators. Although my main experience is in Workers' Compensation, the same techniques and skills can be applied to any type of dispute, from marriage dissolution to landlord/tenant disagreements. I have a high settlement success rate approximately 75% of cases are resolved without going to trial.
Customary rates are $150.00 per hour with a four hour minimum payable in advance. This rate can be adjusted for those who demonstrate financial hardship. If a mediation takes less than four hours, depending upon the complexity of the case, the preparation time and other factors, a partial refund of the minimum fee may be considered. Fees are payable even if the case does not reach resolution.
Evening and weekend appointments are preferred. At least two weeks notice is requested, although emergencies may be accommodated upon request. Week day appointments can be arranged with sufficient notice.
