dirigible in orbit

I was the daughter of someone on the ruling council - and he had died. I did not want to take his place but it did indeed fall to me. I was still getting used to the notion.

it was conjunction - the two satellites were together, and therefore time for the council to meet. I went through the corridors at night, looking for the chambers. somewhere, under all my thoughts, I knew where to go. I took my seat, and business was conducted. the dream skipped through most of it.

what I focussed on was the changes in my life. the "satellites" were really giant airships. the "orbit" was a path they followed around the Indian subcontinent. the map of said orbit was shown very clearly, with the paths of the airships displayed as giant ropes. they met over the eastern himalayas, which is where we were now, and in the southern tip.

the airships were necessary to help relieve the population pressure and the crowding. the vast majority of the instruments of government were on the two airships. but they were very crowded and nothing really got done other than when they overlapped and decisions could be made. the twin airships held 10% of the population. that's amazing.

we took off and away. everywhere we went the people waved and cheered, and it was crowded on deck, crowded below, crowded on the ground. we were warned to watch out for tipping the boat. I wasn't too worried about it, until we passed near some interesting event and everyone rushed to that side to look. the deck went to like a 50 degree angle towards starboard, and I grimly hung on to a line along the port side.

it was hot.

we got to some part where a publicity event was to happen, and we actually landed to set that up. I am not quite sure how that was supposed to work, other than everyone lined up along the port rail - again the deck was tilted, it's not like the bottom of the airship was flat - and we were going to do something along the lines of a childrens' game of "Red Rover". this was going to be filmed for TV or a commercial or something.

I woke up before we got past setup though.
