I was in a war, and it was in azeroth, the world setting for warcraft. but that's about where the resemblance ends. the war was being fought with hi-tech equipment, and the military was in rather 60's-futuristic uniforms.
there was a group of people, who had either been captured, or convinced, to work with the other side. they had finally gained positions of trust, which was odd since they were not part of it. as a result they were in charge of part of this captured fortress. I didn't quite get this part. they were all female; the other side was some repressive culture... they were in almost barbarella-like silvery outfits.
meanwhile, I was with an assault group. we were entering badlands... and then we started up the slope to angor. I asked, why are we assaulting it...? right then we encountered resistance and I realized it was held by the other side. we began a determined assault, and were doing ok until the army showed up to pin us on the slope between them and the not yet captured fortress.
we got to the fortress gates, and realized it was doublewalled. the resistance was on the insides, and we ensconced ourselves within the first wall but outside the second. was we arrayed ourselves, the army outside fired a precision volley. the guns were like out of science fiction and the bullets glowed as they flew through the air, leaving traces. they went through the walls about 3' up and spaced pretty evenly, hitting and injuring various people.
one of the women on the other side, came out to talk to us. I started talking to her... she did not like them. they were not good people... the army outside did not know it was happening. I tried to convince her to let us in so we could take the fortress... she had the keywords to get past the locks. as we were talking she suddenly said, down, and we all dropped flat as yet another of those volleys were fired from the army outside.
I woke up before the battle had a resolution, but am pretty convinced we would have ended up taking the fortress with this woman's help. I think there was more to the story about this woman and her experiences with the other army, and their culture, but it's all faded out.
