so, I woke up, and got up, and cleaned my teeth. there were gross tobacco stains along the edges of the gums on my upper incisors. I ran the sonicaire along the edges and the stains slowly scrubbed out.
I left the bathroom and talked to Karine. I told her about my dream, that it was faded and I couldn't really remember it. but if we drove along the boulevard, then maybe it would refresh my memory.
we drove to the main drag and I explained that this is how it worked, all we had to do was turn left (although it was really veering right), and we would pass the 7-11 on the right, and then the left hand side of the street would change like in my dream, or I could at least explain what was happening.
we got in the car and followed this route, and as we passed the 7-11 and the left hand side of the road - towards the ocean - started to change, I realized, I was not awake; I was dreaming.
across from the 7-11 there was like a cliff, of that rock that is so common along the california coast. past that, instead of shops like there was supposed to be, a hole in reality opened up and there was the ocean. the ocean was on the morning side but it was very strange. we were heading south and the morning side was still to the left of us even though the ocean was to the west.
the dream within my dream started out on that beach, and then crossed the road back into the buildings beyond the 7-11. the nature of the buildings and streets changed past that and became more like makeshift wooden structures in a more tropical environment. there was a thriving "underground" culture and I had been an active participant in this community.
unfortunately it's hard enough to remember the meta-dream without it fading let alone the dream-within-the-dream, which was already fading in the first place. I can't remember any more...
