I was in the Sav-On near my mom's house. I was just sort of standing up near the cashier's, near one of the bargain aisles. they came and restocked with a boxed baking recipe that made some sort of cake-like treat normally sold as kids junk food. there was a red and yellow superhero on the cover. I looked and it was really cheap - like 3 for 3.33. I grabbed the last 3 - an employee wanted them but he let me take them because I was a customer.
I went to the cashier and they rang up as 8.01 each. I objected and she fixed it. there was some fuss over method of payment but that's faded out by the time I'm typing this entry.
I left and started walking across the parking lot toward my car. as I neared it I saw it had some men surrounding it on a scaffold. one of them sort of winked and nodded his head that I should keep going, they were fixing my car. I laughed and started to walk towards home across the field. I could always get my car later. the guy who winked turned out to be Sean who used to be in Sales at Netcentives. so that's where he's gone, I thought.
when I got home I saw that the roofers, whom I thought had finished, had returned and were replacing the stucco on the outside of the house. they had already taken it off all the way around, in the backyard and everything. I was amazed because no-one had been home to keep Bohdan from biting them. but Bohdan I guess didn't care. they were adding in this insulation which looked like diagonally cut blocks of hay.
I went inside and one of the neighbour kids rode his bike over to talk to me. my cousin had arrived, he said, with other people. his mom had assigned rooms to everyone. I was again amazed that Bohdan had allowed these people in the house. the kid said that his mom knew where to put people because the two guys who were a couple obviously had to be staying with Heather.
once in side I realized that my cousin wasn't there, but the two guys were, and they had brought their little fluffy black & white dogs. Bohdan was there and he was willing to get along with the two dogs, but they didn't like him and tried to bite his nose. one of the dogs had a mango he was eating and made a mess of the carpet in the side room and the bathroom. this was upsetting but you are not allowed to lecture houseguests on rudeness, especially when they are staying because of distant family members. I decided to take Bohdan and go to the house where my cousin was visiting with these other people.
when I got there they were glad to see me, but not so thrilled that I had Bohdan with me. a lot of people were there including a couple of women with 2-3 year olds. one of the 2 year olds came to Bohdan and started beating on him in that way young children do. Bohdan was very upset and wanted to lunge & bite at the child, although he was not as edgy about the room full of strangers as I was expecting. I went into the next room with him and started talking to my cousin (who bore a remarkable resemblance to Elliott), about the schedule and care for my grandmother, who was very old.
he explained that they were touring all the family, and expected to be in town for about three days. she had good days and bad days, that on good days she was like a regular person, chatty and sociable, and on bad days she would just sit there for a long time zoning out. she was sitting across the room and I looked over at her. she was sitting on a beige couch on the south side of the room. she was wearing a dress and hose. her legs were too skinny. but most remarkably, she was a blue-ish black & white, sort of like you'd get looking at a black & white picture in a room lit with blue light I mean. I couldn't believe my eyes. I didn't say anything to my cousin though.
there was more but it's all faded now.
