JOB EXPERIENCE
July, 1999 to Present: Lab Systems Administrator, Enterprise System
Product Group, Sun Microsystems, Inc
Duties Include: Provide support for Lab systems. Install various versions of
Solaris as required (2.4, 2.5.1, 2.6, 7, 8 etc) on lab systems. Maintain
install servers. Maintain yp slave servers. Configure and and maintain
private lab networks as needed. Install clients for servers as required.
Install memory, cpu, I/O boards, and disk subsystems as required. Diagnose and
replace failing hardware as needed on systems. Configure dial-in modems.
Maintain console servers. Install 10/100BT network switches and hubs as
required. Install Gigabit ethernet switches as required.
July, 1996 to June, 1999: Senior Technical Specialist (Sysadmin), Large Systems Support Center, Oracle, Inc.
Duties included: Provide system support for center's computer systems which
consisted of 2 HP K400 servers, HP T520 server, Sun UltraSparc 6000e server,
Digital Alpha 8400 server, Sequent 3 node cluster, IBM SP/2 (10 nodes, 1
frame), EMC terabyte disk farm. Install Oracle RDBMS server software
(various versions as required). Configure volume groups and logical volumes
as required for databases. Installation of performance monitoring tools
such as MeasureWare from HP. Evaluation of performance data. Installation
of system software and related updates.
November, 1994 to July, 1996: Unix Systems Administrator, Computer Services

Duties included: Installation of Sparc workstations, upgrading UNIX Operating
System, building workstations for home use via SLIP/PPP, adminisitrating and
troubleshooting modem servers (Livingston Portmaster and Telebit Netblazer),

(disk drives, CD-ROM drives, floppy drives, networking cards),

Duties included: Provide hardware and software technical support for customers
running high-end computers, including multi-processing systems running a
variety of advanced operating systems including: SCO Unix, Altos/SCO Unix,
Novell Netware and Windows NT. Assist customers in installation of
software. Diagnose problems with hardware and/or software. Answer technical
questions about abilities and limitations of systems and software. Administrate
Unix-based Altos-BBS used by high-end customers.

Duties included: Assist in day to day operations of corporate computing
environment which includes creation/deletion of user accounts, rebooting
machines, installing software and hardware, performing upgrades of software
(both operating system and application level), assisting users using
applications/operating system/databases, performing backup and restores
of filesystems and computers. Troubleshoot difficult hardware/software
problems, including replacement of hardware and software. On-call 24-hours
a day for emergency response to system problems. Provide second-tier support
for fellow system administrators in the department. Assist in networking of
corporate computing environment, including the trouble shooting of networking
problems, installing new networks and making network cabling. Install and
configure HDS and NCD X-terminals.
